Welcome to the Kootenay Snowboard Academy

The Kootenay Snowboard Academy
is committed to providing professional training for competitive minded snowboarders while maintaining that much needed balance between school and training. By following the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development model, the Kootenay Snowboard Academy will allow the athletes to develop to their highest potential.

With the support of The Canadian Snowboard Federation and the British Columbia Snowboard Association, our programs will guide athletes through the steps of competition at the local, Provincial and National levels. All athletes are encouraged to follow a dynamic training schedule based upon individual areas of interest.

Our goal is to provide the highest level of coaching to all athletes while promoting a safe, positive and fun environment in which athletes may develop their abilities and progress towards their own personal goals. By merging this with our academic program the Kootenay Snowboard Academy will allow athletes to follow an academic program that is flexible to their sports demands; allowing them to get the best of both worlds….. quality education with the on hill training they need to succeed.

Snowboard Program

The training philosophy of the Kootenay Snowboard Program is based upon individual goals and progression within areas of interest. We believe this training philosophy is superior for a number of reasons. Athletes reamain motivated towork towards their personal goals for the simple reason that the goals are not generic for the group as a whole, rather more rewarding towards personal achievements. Training sessions will be more enjoyable and this a positive environment to promote progression. This approach also focuses on improving athletes' strengths to promote confidence and eventually improving their weaknesses.
